Marriage

The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant, which is more than a contract. Covenant always expresses a relationship between persons. The marriage covenant refers to the relationship between the husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God. The celebration of marriage is also a liturgical act, appropriately held in a public liturgy at church. Catholics are urged to celebrate their marriage within the Eucharistic Liturgy.

Marriage Preparation Process

Congratulations on your engagement! Our Marriage Coordinator will assist you throughout the marriage preparation process.

Engaged couples are required to notify the Church at least 9 months in advance of their intent to marry. Couples who are civilly married and wish to be married in the Catholic Church should also notify All Saints at least nine months in advance to begin the process. The couple must be registered and active in the parish at least three months prior to beginning the preparation process. If one or both parties have a previous marriage, those must be resolved either by death of the former spouse or by an annulment granted by the Catholic Church.

The Diocese of Phoenix has implemented a 7 step process entitled “Covenant of Love” for all engaged couples.
